Ready to take your bookkeeping outside the company, but not sure who to call? Here are some ideas for finding bookkeeping firms that serve primarily small businesses. Networking is always a good place to start. If you know a reputable CPA, business lawyer or tax advisor, ask them who they recommend. Search online and see what comes up. Know that the bookkeeping company you ultimately choose does not HAVE TO BE local. You may find better pricing from a service outside your area. At BookWerksTM, we offer every client, no matter where they are based, our same friendly Midwest pricing. Check credentials and if the firm lists any clients you know; see if you can find reviews for them; look them up on your accounting software’s directory of bookkeepers certified in your software; and/or consult bookkeeping trade groups, accounting blogs or industry forums to see if they are listed.
